Auxins are plant hormones which is found at the apical part of the plant and stimulates stem elongation inhibit growth of lateral applicable maintains apical dominance e t c. They are produced in the stem, buds and root tips.
Examples includes indole-3-acetic acid(IAA). Auxin is a plant hormone produced in the stem tip that promotes cell elongation. They move to the darker side of the plant causing the cells there to grow larger than corresponding cells on the lighter side of the plant. This produces a curving of the plants stem tip towards the light, a plant movement known as phototropism.

Some Auxin such as 2,4-D and 2,4,5-triphenoxyacetic acid 2,4,5-T are used as herbicides. Broad leaf plants or dicot such as dandelion are much more susceptible to auxins than narrow leaves monocots.
