Types of polysaccharides
Homopolysaccharide: they are polysaccharides composed of a single type of sugar monomer. For instance, cellulose is an unbranched homopolysaccharide made up of glucose monomers connected to beta glycosidic linkage. Glycogen is in branched from where the glucose monomers are joined by alpha glycosidic linkage. Also, a polymers amylase and amylopectin and example of homopolysaccharide, in which all the monomers are glucose. If the pulley contains two or more different kinds of monosaccharides it is a polysaccharide.
Heteropolysaccharide: heteropolysaccharide or glycans contains two or more different monosaccharide units, although a few representative contain three or more different monosaccharides. Most natural heteroglycans contain only two or more different monosaccharide unit and are closely associated with lipids. Example, heparin and synovial fluid. What makes the blood in the vein not to clot is the presence of a neutral anticoagulant called heparin full. Synovial fluid is present in the joints of animals is what enables the joints to bend forward and backward.
